Body found in River Aire confirmed as missing Leeds man

THE body of a man recovered from the River Aire in Leeds city centre has been confirmed as that of missing man Robert Stoner.

He was pulled from the water on Wednesday near a bridge which carries Neville Street.

Mr Stoner, from Swarcliffe, disappeared after a night out in Leeds on Saturday, February 26.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious.

“We do not yet have a cause of death,” the spokesperson added.
