The story of a notorious 18th century pirate who plundered the Caribbean seas will be told at the city’s Royal Armouries.

There will be cannon firings, outdoor pirate battles and storytelling at the museum’s Blackbeard weekend this coming Saturday and Sunday. Activities exploring the life of the 18th century English pirate will be held between 10am-5pm on both days to mark the 300th anniversary of his death. And from 7pm on Saturday, storyteller Tim Ralphs will perform his adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island in an event for adults.

The Blackbeard event is part of the museum’s Legends series of events, exploring mighty and mysterious warrior legends from cultures around.
