BAT experts have urged the public to remain vigilant the harsh winters of recent years.

A baby bat, above, has been saved from almost certain death this summer after a resident in Hull contacted volunteers from the Bat Conservation Trust. A spokeswoman for the charity said: “Bats have struggled with two particularly bad and long winters and need all the help they can get this year.”

A hotline has been set up to report injured bats on 0845 130 0228.
