Bake-off contestants make themselves at home in Garforth

Former Bake Off contestants Val Stones and Louise Williams popped on their pinnies and made themselves at home in one of Redrow's new show homes at The Poplars at Roundwood, in Garforth.

Yorkshire-born ‘Cake Whisperer’ Val and Louise, who appeared in series 7 of the baking competition created a few festive treats at the special event, delighting visitors with a tasty selection of miniature mince pies, a Christmas Yorkshire fruit cake and decorated gingerbread.

“We had a great crowd of people coming to view our new show homes – and I think the wonderful aromas coming from the kitchen helped to entice them as much as our two lovely house styles,” said Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire).

“In between the baking demonstrations guests were able to wander around the show homes and our experts were on hand to discuss the various purchase options that can help people to move and make buying a new home a reality. And they loved going back to get tips and ideas for the festive season from Val and Louise….as well as another mince pie or piece of cake!

“It was a great way to view our homes – and a wonderful opportunity to start getting into the Christmas spirit. We even had a visit from one of this year’s GBBO finalists Kim Joy, which was the icing on the cake. Apparently, she’d been invited by Val who wanted some tips for fine piping of icing.
