Badger cull protest set for city centre

A protest against the Government's badger cull policy will best held in Leeds today.

Organised by the Badger Trust with the support of local wildlife protection campaigner Nuala Reilly and the Kirklees Badger Group, this will be the 36th protest march against the badger cull policy held in towns and cities across England over the last two and half years.

Speakers will include leading anti-cull spokesperson Dominic Dyer, CEO of the Badger Trust, Logan Anderson from the Kirklees Badger Group and Yorkshire wildlife protection campaigner Luke Steele.

Mr Dyer said: “I’ve worked in the agriculture and food industry for most of my career, and this is the worst agricultural policy I’ve seen in 30 years.

“I am sympathetic to farmers, but culling badgers simply won’t work.

“Ordinary people from around the country have come out to protest against this barbaric cull, and we’re looking forward to seeing many of them come to Leeds on Saturday.”

The protest march starts at 12.30 in City Squar and will go through the city centre.
