Awards boost to The Leeds Fund

The recent Business Against Crime in the Community (BACIL) awards raised £1,108 for Leeds Community Foundation managed group which aims to address inequalities and create opportunities for the needy.

The recent event, which was held at The Queen’s Hotel, was attended by over 300 people, including West Yorkshire Police, Leeds City Council and the 380 member businesses, who together make up the Business Against Crime in Leeds (BACIL) network.

The awards honoured businesses and individuals who have taken a dedicated stance towards tackling crime in Leeds and keeping the city safe for people to live, work and play.

Rachael McGlynn, of BACIL, said: “We all had a fantastic time at the awards evening, made all the better by raising over £1,100 for The Leeds Fund.

“This was a combination of a charity raffle and 10 per cent of the bar takings kindly donated by The Queen’s Hotel.

“We are delighted to be working with Leeds Community Foundation as they are a real catalyst for positive change in Leeds, striving to create a city of opportunity for all by providing financial grants, support and advice to help community projects thrive.

“In 2017-18 they awarded £3,324,678 in grants, benefitting over 100,000 local people.“
