Award for Yorkshire helpful hero of sales

Lisa Kennedy has been rewarded for her calm approach and friendly demeanour at work, scooping the Employee of the Year accolade from Redrow Homes in Yorkshire.

Lisa has had two very enjoyable spells working for the housebuilder. She initially spent 11 years working as a part-time sales consultant and then returned to the Wakefield-based business in 2010 in an office based role.

She held a couple of different roles in the sales department before settling into the post of sales co-ordinator in 2014.

“I’ve always loved working for Redrow,” explained Lisa, 50. “I particularly love the role of sales coordinator, it’s challenging and it can be stressful but I quite enjoy that and I really like the variety and the team.”

And it was the team around her, not just within the sales department, that voted for Lisa, from Gildersome, Leeds, to become the 2017 Employee of the Year.

“It was a complete shock when I found out,” she said. “I nearly didn’t go to the end of year party where they were presenting the prize because I was heading off on holiday very early the morning after. But I was persuaded to go and I’m pleased I did, it was a lovely surprise.

“It’s so nice to know that what you do is appreciated across all the different departments.”

Lisa’s job encompasses all the administration associated with the reservations that come through, contract exchanges and completions, including liaising with the legal team.

So, when asked for nominations, colleagues were quick to praise Lisa’s ability to “get her head down and get on with the task in hand”, as well as highlight her positive and friendly attitude, among other attributes.

James Poynor, managing director of Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), added: “Lisa is certainly the unsung hero of the office. She’s always happy and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. She really is a vital part of the team.

“She is an asset to the company; professional, competent and, as so many people told us, a joy to be around.”

Lisa was awarded a certificate and cash prize. “I haven’t spent the money yet, I might need to liaise with all the team on what to buy!”
