Her award triumph comes as the Yorkshire Evening Post is showcasing the hard work of the region’s healthcare staff as part of our We Love Our NHS campaign.

Ms Tindall said: “I was delighted to be nominated and absolutely gobsmacked to win.

“As a nurse, being able to help people through those times is so important and one of the things I love about my job.

“It can be a real rollercoaster but it’s a privilege to be able to play such an important role in people’s lives.”

Ms Tindall has worked in healthcare for 25 years after registering as a nurse in 1999.

But she said that being able to help students as a preceptor has been a way of giving something back to those who supported her as a trainee.

“When I was learning, I had lots of help and support, so I always wanted to give some of that back,” she said.

“Being a preceptor and supporting student nurses, junior staff and colleagues is my way of returning the help that I had when I was a junior member of staff.”

Meanwhile, other staff were also recognised at the award ceremony for their roles.

They include Colton Mill medical centre’s Andrea Mann and Julie Beer, Matthew Mcsara and Alison Reid at Gibson Lane and Lesley Wood, from Oulton Medical Centre.
