Author visit to Leeds Waterstones after children's department revamp

Robin Stevens, who won the Waterstones Children’s Fiction Prize with her debut novel, Murder Most Unladylike, will be doing the honours from 2pm on Sunday. (Dec 2)

Afterwards, the American-born author will hold a book signing for Death in the Spotlight – the seventh novel in her bestselling and critically acclaimed Murder Most Unladylike Mysteries series.

The re-opening of the department aimed at younger bookworms coincides with the Leeds leg of Stevens’ pre-Christmas tour to promote the latest book.

Ollie Martin, events co-ordinator at Leeds Waterstones, said: “We’re super excited to open up our brand new children’s section with such a fantastic author. Robin has many young fans in the Leeds area.

“It’s the perfect chance to come and browse our newly refurbished shop and do some Christmas shopping.”

Stevens hails from California and grew up in an Oxford college, across the road from the house where the girl who inspired Alice in Wonderland once lived.

When her father handed Stevens a copy of The Murder of Roger Ackroyd at the age of 12, she realised she wanted to be either Hercule Poirot or Agatha Christie when she grew up.

Stevens spent her teenage years at Cheltenham Ladies’ College reading murder mysteries and studied crime fiction at university, before working at a children’s publisher. She is now a full-time author living in Oxford.
