Arrest made after Leeds car crash left one man dead

A man has been arrested following a fatal car crash in Roundhay.

The 24-year-old, from Wetherby, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after Luke Goodyear, 23, died when the silver Toyota Aygo he was a passenger in collided with a tree in North Park Avenue on Saturday at around 3.45pm. The driver left the scene.

The car, registration CA06 RKJ, had been stolen from Harehills on August 11.

Four other people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

A 17-year-old youth and a 56-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have now been bailed pending further enquiries.

Two men, aged 23 and 24, arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving have been released without charge.
