Arrest in swoop on Leeds kebab shop

Immigration officials raided a kebab shop in Leeds.

Enforcement officers from the Home Office arrested a 60-year-old from Pakistan at Shai Nan Kebab, on Roundhay Road, Harehills, on suspicion of entering the UK illegally.

He is in custody following Friday’s swoop pending his removal from the country.

The shop faces a fine of up to £10,000 for employing an illegal worker unless it can provide proof that checks were carried out.

A Home Office spokesperson, said: “I would urge members of the public with detailed and specific information about illegal working to contact us.”
