A woman from Leeds died after allegedly being hit by a taxi.

The 24-year-old, who has not been named but is believed to be a mother, was fatally injured on City Road in Chester on Saturday.

A 48-year-old man from Chester was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a collision and is currently on police bail.

Cheshire Police have appealed for information about the incident, which happened just after 9.30pm.

They are particularly keen to speak to a person who was driving a silver private hire taxi, similar to a Mondeo or a Vectra hatchback, who drove past the scene and may have witnessed the crash. Call PC Gareth James on 101.
