Around 5,000 homes left with no water or low pressure due to large burst in north Leeds

A large burst main in north Leeds has left around 5,000 homes with no water or low pressure this morning.

The incident was first reported by Yorkshire Water at 7.15am.

A "very large" burst in Alwoodley has affected the water supply to thousands of homes in LS17, LS19 and LS20.

Yorkshire Water is treating the incident as an emergency and all available teams have been called to the area to carry out repairs.

A spokeswoman said: "We are aware of a large burst in the LS17 area, which has temporarily affected supply to a number of properties in LS19 and LS20.

"We know how inconvenient an issue like this can be - our team is on site working as quickly as possible to isolate the burst and restore supplies.”

Update: Yorkshire Water has restored water supplies and pressure should start to return to normal for homes affected.
