Armed robbers threatened staff at building society in Leeds

Building society staff were threatened with weapons during an armed robbery in Leeds this morning.

The suspects entered Leeds Building Society on Armley Town Street at around 9.40am.

They made threats before one of the suspects jumped in to the staff area.

He removed cash from drawers before the gang made their escape.

A number of members of the public were in the branch at the time, but none of the customers or staff were injured.

It is believed the suspect who entered the staff area has an eye injury. 

Detective Constable Smurthwaite, of Leeds CID, said: "I would appeal to anyone who may have any information about those people in the CCTV images to come forward."
