Armed police in three-hour stand-off at house in Leeds after woman is assaulted

A man has been arrested after a three-hour stand-off with police at a house in Leeds today.

Armed officers were called at about 11.10am to an address on Bawn Drive in Farnley where a woman had been assaulted and a man was threatening to harm himself.

The woman, who was in the house with her baby, was then allowed to leave.

She was able to take the baby, who was not harmed in the incident, with her.

A cordon was put in place around the property while trained officers negotiated with the 33-year-old man, who was still holed up inside. Armed officers were present at the scene.

The man was eventually arrested shortly before 2.30pm.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries that were not life-threatening.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said enquiries into the incident were ongoing.
