A MAN was stabbed in the arm after an argument with a couple in Cottingley last night.

The victim was confronted by a man and a woman who called at his home in Cottingley Drive at around 5pm.

The male visitor produced a knife and stabbed the 35-year-old leaving him with serious cuts to his right arm.

Armed police were called to the scene but were unable to track the couple down.

The stabbing victim was taken to hospital and later released after treatment.

Acting Detective Inspector Claudine Binns, of Leeds District CID, said: “We are following up a number of leads in relation to this incident, but we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area around the above time to come forward.”

Police have descibed the male suspect as as black, in his mid-twenties and he was wearing a blue Adidas tracksuit.

The woman is described as white, around similar age and was said to have reddish brown hair.

She was believed to be wearing a black top and black leggings.
