Armed police arrest man in Leeds town

Armed police were called to a ‘domestic-related’ incident close to Otley town centre today.

Police confirmed no one was hurt in the incident which ended with the arrest of a 48-year-old man at a property on Kirkgate.

A short term road closure caused some traffic disruption.

Inspector Paul Rushton, of West Yorkshire Police, said: “At approximately 1pm on July 8 officers attended a report of a domestic-related incident at a property on Kirkgate, Otley.

“Armed officers were involved in the incident which was resolved when a 48-year-old male was compliantly arrested.

“No one was injured in the incident.

“A short-term road closure was put in place which caused some short term traffic disruption.

“The road has since been reopened.”
