Music lovers can blast away those new year blues by looking ahead to a packed 2015 programme of entertainment at Leeds’s First Direct Arena.

A host of top performers from right around the world will be beating a high-profile path to the £60m venue’s door over the next 12 months.

Acts playing the arena include Neil Diamond, Bette Midler, Lionel Richie and Fleetwood Mac as well as Leeds’s own Kaiser Chiefs.

And fans in Leeds and the rest of Yorkshire are being told to expect more big names to be added to the venue’s star-studded guest list before too long.

Ian De-Whytell, who runs Leeds-based Crash Records, said: “It is already shaping up to be another great year for the First Direct Arena.

“International artists like Neil Diamond, Bette Midler and Lionel Richie have never played Leeds. We now have a venue that is able to showcase their talents.

“The rest of the year’s line-up is also looking good with the likes of The Black Keys and Pharrell Williams on their way.

“The gig I’m looking forward to most, though, is Fleetwood Mac.

“I’m so pleased they are coming to Leeds this year.

“I’m sure there are lots more announcements to come from the arena and we will have a fantastic variety of entertainment in 2015.”

Other acts preparing to hit the stage at the venue include Queen and Adam Lambert, The Script, McBusted, Paloma Faith, Nicki Minaj, Olly Murs, Ben Howard, John Legend and Simply Red.

The musicians won’t be having it all their own way, however, with Betway Premier League Darts, WWE Live and Disney on Ice also among 2015’s coming attractions.

Leeds’s city council-backed arena opened in 2013 with a gig from Bruce Springsteen.
