Gas provider Northern Gas Networks (NGN) will begin replacing metal mains with plastic pipes in The Avenue, Alwoodley, on Monday, April 11.

Bosses at NGN say the work, which will take around 18 weeks to complete, is necessary to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas in the future.

Russ Oxley, construction services area manager for NGN, said: “We have been working closely with Leeds City Council to carefully plan these works and will be doing all we can to minimise any disruption caused.

“We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these works, and would like to thank you for your patience and support in getting them completed as quickly as possible.”

The major project is part of NGNs’ ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and has been planned in partnership with Leeds City Council to minimise disruption.

It is due to be completed by August 12.

The work will be carried out on a street-by-street basis, starting in The Valley before proceeding to The View, The Quarry, The Avenue, The Fairway, Mount Gardens and finishing on Mount Drive.
