Marilyn then made a personal donation to bring the total raised to a whopping £15,000.

All the funds were donated to the Leeds hospice for its 40th anniversary year.

Marilyn said: “I am absolutely thrilled to see how much the sale of my designer items has raised for St Gemma’s, in memory of my late mother and father Estelle and Arnold Morris.

“I feel passionately that outstanding end-of-life care is so vitally important for both the patient and the family and this is exactly what St Gemma’s delivers.

“The enormity of coming to terms with the end of life cannot be underestimated and St Gemma’s assists families and patients to do that in a peaceful, caring and loving environment.

“I very much look forward to continuing to support this fantastic charity in my role as a 40th anniversary patron.”

Kerry Jackson, Chief Executive of St Gemma’s Hospice, said: “Everyone at St Gemma’s is completely delighted with the money raised from the sale of Marilyn’s items.

“£15,000 will allow us to care for one in-patient for an incredible 33 days, providing 24-hour care, pain relief and support for the patient’s family.

“It has been a privilege to work with Marilyn and we are so grateful for her continued support as a 40th anniversary patron.”

The sale of Marilyn’s designer items marked the end of an illustrious career as one of Britain’s most successful divorce lawyers. She is now writing a novel in time for release later this year.
