Appeal to get involved with 2017 Kirkstall Art Trail

The third Kirstall Art Trail is due to take place at a string of venues across Kirkstall from 11am to 5pm on Saturday July 15 and Sunday 16.

Last year’s art trail showcased the work of more than 80 artists at 20 venues across Kirkstall and attracted around 1,000 visitors.

Venues in 2016 included a barge on the Leeds Liverpool Canal, Kirkstall Abbey, and a unit at Kirkstall Bridge Shopping Park.

Kirkstall Abbey grounds are set to be the hub of this year’s event, with a giant picnic planned along with an art exhibition.

Kirstall Art Trail organiser Amy Thompson, said: “For two days, venues throughout Kirkstall will host a variety of exhibitions, free workshops and activities suitable for all ages and abilities.

“Now in its third year, the art trail is looking for artists, makers and creative organisations based in Kirkstall and the surrounding areas to take part in the weekend-long celebration of creativity.

“The art trail is a free event which inspires local engagement with the arts and celebrates the creative talent in Kirkstall.

“For the 2017 event, we are looking for artists to exhibit their work, makers to sell their work an creative organisations to showcase their talent

“The art trail offers a unique opportunity to exhibit and sell your work in an unusual venue and we would like applicants to think outside the box when it comes to displaying their work.”
