All emergency services rushed to Leeds city centre to rescue woman from River Aire

Emergency services were rushed to the River Aire in the early hours of New Year's Day to rescue a woman who was in the water.

The woman was found in the river near Crown Point Road in Hunslet at about 4am.

Police officers located a throwline on the river bank and threw it to assist the woman, before calling the fire service for help.

When fire crews arrived at the scene near Turlow Court, the woman was still in the river clinging onto a ladder.

Two water rescue crews, assisted by two pumps from Hunslet, rescued the woman from the river.

She was then taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.
