In that time the Leeds restaurant scene has changed so much and we are more than happy to be able to shine a light upon it and to give recognition where it’s due.

That’s why these awards were set up in the first place - to applaud all those hard working men and women who give their all night in, night out, helping to make the Leeds dining scene one of the most innovative in the country.

Our awards come with a certain level of credence, too. We are proud to have been able to identify high flyers in the restaurant industry long before they have gained national recognition. We did that with The Man Behind the Curtain, Bundobust and Tharavadu and we are sure the trend will continue.

Leeds is home to hundreds of restaurants and the quality is only going in one direction: up. That’s down to chefs, managers and waiting staff and tonight’s awards are our way of saying thank you. The awards themselves are based on the weekly reviews which run in the Yorkshire Evening Post. Judges aim to be fair and balanced at all times, pointing out the good and the bad, which is why making it onto our shortlist comes with such prestige. We consider all of the names in this supplement winners already but on the night itself - March 12 - only one can be chosen from each category. As we celebrate a decade of awards, we hope you are looking forward to a night to be remembered.
