The Leeds-based Jane Tomlinson Appeal is celebrating reaching its latest fundraising milestone in typically big-hearted fashion – with a £100,000 cash giveaway.
Appeal staff today revealed they are making the six-figure sum available to charities across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Lancashire.
Good causes can apply for up to £15,000 each from the funding pot.
Today’s news follows the announcement on Monday that the appeal had broken through the £7.5m fundraising barrier.
Rothwell mum-of-three Jane famously raised £1.8m before her death from cancer aged 43 in 2007.
Since then, 10K runs and other events backed by the Tomlinson family have added millions more to the total.
Jane’s daughter Suzanne said: “We’d like to hear from as many charities and organisations as possible.
“There is no minimum award and they can bid for a maximum of £15,000 to support a project of their choice.
“They just need to tell us how they will spend it and what benefits it will bring.
“We would especially like to hear from charities that work with children or cancer patients and their families.
“They are causes that were obviously close to Mum’s heart, as they are to ours.
“Whether it’s a tiny charity providing support for poorly children, a service that supports cancer patients or a group that works with adults with learning difficulties, we would like to hear from them.”
The deadline for applications to the Jane Tomlinson Appeal Big Charity Giveaway is Monday, March 16.
