A cameraman avoided serious injury after an horrendous accident at the start of the final British Touring Car Championship race at Snetterton Circuit today.

Leeds driver Sam Tordoff led the race from pole position but towards the back of the grid Hunter Abbott’s Chevrolet Cruze barrel-rolled into a TV tower which crashed to the ground.

The accident occurred when Team BKR’s Mark Howard and Team Parker Racing’s Alex Martin made contact sending Martin into the pit wall. Abbott took avoiding action but clipped Howard and was launched into a fence before hitting the camera tower.

Fortunately, the ITV cameraman walked away from the incident and did not need medical attention.
