Accidents and break-downs have caused disruption for commuters on Tuesday morning.

Highways England said a lane was closed on the A1M northbound between junctions J37 (Marr, Doncaster) and J38 (Redhouse Interchange) at around 7.30am due to a accident involving a vehicle leaving the carriageway.

Normal conditions are expected to return by 9am.

A broken down car has blocked a lane on the A64 Eastbound between the A1M at Bramham and A659 at Tadcaster.

An earlier incident on the M62 westbound, which blocked two lanes due to a three-vehicle accident between junctions 23 and 22 has now cleared.

Yesterday’s burst water main on Oxford Road in Gomersal is continuing to cause travel disruption this morning.

Arriva said the 252 and 254 services are not running to Gomersal Hill Top due to the diversion.

Meanwhile, Sgt Paul Cording of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Team tweeted a picture of a van that came off the road at the A1M at Dishforth and onto the A168 at 4.50am.

A passenger was seriously injured and witnesses are asked to contact police on i01, quoting log 0066 of today.
