With just eight shopping days to go until Christmas, the clothing chain has announced it will open its White Rose store from 8am tomorrow (Friday, December 18) and stay open until closing time on 19 December, to help reduce queues and give customers more time to shop safely.

The same store was open for 24 hours earlier this month when the country came out of national lockdown.

Primark said it "rigorous health and safety measures in place" and has dedicated employees and extra security staff on hand to manage queues outside stores.

It has also boosted its number of night time security staff by almost 70% to manage the overnight hours.

This is in addition to social distancing measures, limits on the number of customers allowed in store and requiring the use of face coverings in queues and in store.

The retailer has also invested in safety measures for employees and customers including face coverings, hand sanitisation stations at store entrances, Perspex screens and cubicles at till points and increased in-store cleaning.

Elsewhere in Yorkshire, the York Monks Cross and Meadowhall stores are also opening for 24 hours on the same day.

Simon Gibbs, Retail Director for Primark UK & Northern Europe said: “The safety of our employees and customers remains our highest priority.

"The ability to stay open through the night has meant more shoppers can shop safely with us over the festive season.

“We would like to thank customers for their continued cooperation on our social distancing policy and remind them to be considerate of our safety measures, and of others, both while queuing outside and in-store.”
