Leeds property news: Work starts on ‘biggest city centre investment since Granary Wharf’

Work has started on the first major residential development in Leeds city centre since the completion of Granary Wharf.

The former Tate Cars headquarters on New York Road, adjacent to the A64, is being converted into a contemporary residential scheme comprising 74 apartments, including roof top penthouses with views across the city, as part of a £9m investment by developer JM Construction (Leeds) Ltd.

Tate House will offer a choice of one, two and three bedroom accommodation specified to a high standard, including engineered wood flooring (or Karndean) to the kitchen and lounge areas, along with a range of integrated kitchen appliances and a modern bathroom suite. The two and three bedroom apartments will also include an en-suite.


A key feature of Tate House is its location. The development is in the heart of the vibrant Northern Quarter and less than five minutes’ walk from the city’s main retail and commercial core.

Meanwhile, the new Hammerson Victoria Gate scheme and the new 265,000sq ft John Lewis store will be on the doorstep, as is the First Direct Arena.
