And this is very much the case for Leeds, which will see lows of 16 degrees in the early hours of the morning, with temperatures predicted to still be around 21 degrees celsius by 11pm at night.

Thursday (25 June)

Thursday will also see highs of 29 degrees celsius, and full sun.

Friday (26 June)

On Friday, Leeds will enjoy highs of 26 degrees celsius, but this will be short lived and followed by cloudy skies throughout the afternoon and a chance of thunderstorms in the evening.

Saturday (27 June)

In Leeds on Sunday, there will be sunny intervals and the temperature will drop to 18 degrees celsius.

What has caused the high temperatures?

Explaining the cause of the upcoming “heatwave conditions”, Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Dan Suri said: “We quite often see warm, southerly air from the continent bringing these high temperatures to the UK in summer.

“However this week, the air across the UK has arrived from the Atlantic.

“This Atlantic air will descend and warm up as it moves across the UK and this in combination with clear skies and strong late-June sunshine, we’re seeing temperatures rise.”
