Help to Buy scheme boost for Leeds couple

When they decided to set up home together, Leeds couple Adam Copeland and Rebecca Hardy started looking for rental properties in Horsforth.

But thanks to the government backed Help to Buy incentive offered at Redrow’s Horsforth Vale development, they were delighted to discover they could actually afford to get onto the property ladder and buy.

Rebecca, 23, a community nurse, said: “In fact, not only could we afford to buy our own home – it actually works out cheaper than renting and, of course, we have got something to show at the end of it.”

Rebecca and Adam, a 24-year-old agricultural fencer, looked at renting but found out that it would cost around £700 a month for what they were looking for.

Rebecca added: “Adam didn’t really want to rent.He had saved quite a bit of money for a deposit before we met and so, after seeing an advert on Facebook, we decided to go and look at Redrow’s Horsforth Vale development. The fact that it is cheaper to buy is a bonus but it makes so much more sense. We were fortunate that Adam had savings and, with the Help to Buy scheme we only needed to pay a deposit of five per cent. And we loved the Abode properties.”

Abode by Redrow is a new collection of two and three-bedroom homes with an ‘uncluttered’ but smart façade, along with a host of in-vogue features inside. All the homes can be purchased using the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.

Horsforth Vale is about six miles from Leeds city centre. Prices for an Abode home start from £296,950.
