Established in 1996 to showcase some of the best British-made craft, Cottingley Furnishers has become a must-visit destination in Yorkshire, with a solid reputation for helping customers find the perfect pieces for their home.

From the outside, the 3000 sq ft showroom on Bradford Road is deceiving in size, housing large open area, a dedicated accessories space as well as seven inspiring room sets showcasing a mix of traditional country style interiors, industrial design elements and contemporary décor, designed to help the shopper understand how each piece will fit into their own home.

While the growth of the internet and the increasing dominance of giant brands has made life increasingly difficult for independent traders, Cottingley Furnishers has always moved with times, establishing a popular website to showcase their expanded range and continually improving their incredible showroom.

Over the last few years however the business has sadly not been immune to the growing problems facing all independent retailers. And after struggling to cope with the uncertainty caused by Brexit - with many of their pieces now sourced from top designers around the world - the company found itself dealt another blow as the country shut up shop due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

After careful consideration they have now decided it is time to close up - and they plan to give customers a big thank you, with incredible bargains on offer until all stock is cleared.

As for all small business owners, Emma Newton, admitted it was a difficult choice.

“It is sad and we just want to give our customers a last chance to come and have a look around the showroom and hopefully find the perfect piece for them,” she said. “For some existing customers it is a last chance to maybe complete rooms that they had been working on. Everything is included in the sale, including accessories; everything must go!”

Known for its more traditional offer over the years, with hand-crafted wooden furniture still being one of its most popular sellers, the store has grown to incorporate a range of unique one-off pieces, from apothecary cabinets to industrial-inspired desks.

Shoppers can also find a whole host of accessories, including faux plants, Aztec printcushions, industrial-inspired wall clocks, Berber style rugs, concrete planters and so much more.

And if you are looking to get your house ready for Christmas they have you covered - whether it is a new dining room table to fit the family around for Christmas dinner, or a new sideboard offering ample storage to hide away unopened presents, the Bingley-based store has a raft of handcrafted pieces to buy and take away the same day.
