Children's charity receives cash boost from housebuilder

Sweetpea Charity has been awarded £1,000 from Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire’s Community Champion programme.

The charity works in partnership with community projects and individuals in the region by providing equipment and fundraising support to vulnerable children, through a grant giving service.

The donation will help support the charity’s running costs as chief executive, Di Flatt explained. She said: “We are thrilled with the generous donation from Persimmon. As a newly formed fundraising charity we are in need of financial support. Persimmon’s very kind donation will help cover our operating costs, enabling us to focus on supporting vulnerable children in our region.” The donation is part of Persimmon’s match-funding initiative which seeks to support local groups and charities working to improve the quality of life or environment for the community. Interested groups and organisations are encouraged to apply for up to £1,000 donation by completing an online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.

Wayne Gradwell, managing director at Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Sweetpea Charity as they provide a valuable resource to the communities in which we are building. We have had a fantastic response to the Community Champion scheme and it’s always a difficult task to decide who to support.
