Pop-up restaurant comes to popular Parisian style bar in the heart of Leeds

A popular Parisian style bar on New Briggate in Leeds is growing on its success by hosting a hugely successful pop-up restaurant to its offering.

Bar Remedy may only be in its first year, but the trendy venue has already proved a hit among locals, favoured for its relaxed atmosphere, excellent selection of wines and spirits, and its tasty Yorkshire cheeseboard.

A stylish Leeds haunt

The bar, which is the brainchild of Leeds local Simon Hunter, aims to bring a taste of something different to The Northern Quarter of the city, and with the introduction of a new pop-up restaurant, it serves as much more than a popular watering hole.

"This part of town is exciting - it has great bars, such as Wax, Mojo, Sela, North and Brotherhood, which are all independents and buzz with their own style," says Hunter.

"We have The Grand Theatre and the First Direct Arena at one side of us and City Varieties Music Hall on the other, so the Northern Quarter is a destination and I wanted to add to that landscape.”

Parisian in style and decorated with the artwork of Hunter's wife, Nina, Bar Remedy prides itself on being a stylish hang out that caters for all.

“We’re a very chilled space,” Hunter explains.

“Through the day we welcome people having business meetings, theatre audiences attending matinees or popping in early evening pre-show, workers from the area on their break and a lot of regulars who like to come in, sit at the bar and chat.

"We’re a bit like the ‘Cheers’ of Leeds!”

A pop-up success

Building on its success as a drinking destination, Hunter has now teamed up with award-winning chef James Key to bring a pop-up restaurant to its customers every Wednesday night.

The two-course menu changes weekly, depending on what products are on offer, and is served from 5.30pm to 10pm, at a cost of £15 per person.

"The pop-up restaurant has been an instant success," says Hunter.

"It's great, simple food, made with great, simple products and I'm really pleased with it.

"We've had such a positive response from all of our customers and it makes a seamless transitiion from daytime cafe bar to restaurant."

Bar Remedy is located at 16 New Briggate and is open every day serving coffee, fine wines, cold beers and spirits.

The pop-up restaurant will be held at the venue every Wednesday and booking is not necessary.
