The new drinks trend coming to Leeds

Rum and Tonic - the next big thing?

Gin and tonic is old news.

A new craze is about to hit Leeds bars and it is not your usual mix.

Rum and tonic will be taking us out of summer and into the autumn but Turtle Bay in The Light has already started to get into the spirit with today being National Rum Day.

It has added six rum and tonic pairings to its drink menu.

Mount Gay Black Barrell, El Dorado 3, Foursquare Spiced, Goslings Black Seal, Angostura 1919 and Mezan Jamaican XO are paired with a Double Dutch Tonic ranging from a classic Indian tonic, Cucumber and Watermelon tonic and Cranberry and Ginger tonic.

Silvia Aliprandi, Turtle Bay’s resident rum expert, who created the Rum ‘n’ Tonics menu, said: “We’re very proud of the new Rum ‘n’ Tonics menu. Rum is becoming more and more popular and that looks set to continue over the next few years.

“We wanted to create a new selection of drinks that showcased some of the amazing 40 rums on offer here at Turtle Bay and give rum lovers a magical new drinking experience.”Rum sales nearly topped those of gin last year and the colourful spirit netted over £991m on British shores alone.
