Leeds Indian restaurant extends 'Eat Out To Help Out' offer

That means from Monday to Wednesday, diners will receive 50 per cent off their bill per person, for either lunch or dinner capped at £5 per person.

The decision to extend the scheme comes as a result of the wild success of the government scheme in enticing diners through the doors.

In the words of Restaurant Manager, Siby Jose, “when the scheme was first announced, I was hopeful but sceptical about the customer response. But all my doubts have gone away in a storm of booking requests. We have never received this many phone calls in the last six years!”

Tharavadu, a Kerala restaurant, has been showered in accolades for its authentic, intensely flavourful food, listed in the Michelin Guide and has won the prestigious Oliver Award in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

However, there has been a slight downside to the restaurant's packed seats throughout August thanks to the Eat Out To Help Out scheme. “Many people showed up last minute and couldn't get a table, or asked to use the deal on a Thursday. But our hands were tied – it's a government scheme,”Siby Jose.

Because the remarkable staff at Tharavadu can't stand to disappoint their customers, they decided to extend the discount scheme even beyond the point where it is financially aided by the government.

The Tharavadu version of Eat Out To Help Out will still allow for a 50 per cent discount on each diner's bill, but that will be capped at £5 per head. The offer can't be used in conjunction with any other offer.

Team Tharavadu, has a word of advice though for people looking to take up this offer “Please reserve your table in advance – and please don't leave it to the last minute, we are tired of saying sorry!”
