Festive grottos for the grown ups in Leeds this Christmas

The Bar Fibre toy shop window.

Turns out festive grottos - not just for kids.

In Leeds this year the Santa stakes have been well and truly upped and leading the way has to be Bar Fibre.

A traditional toy shop is the last thing you would expect from bar that has no boundaries when it comes to well, pretty much anything, but that’s what you have got.

With no expense spared, the ‘Toy Shop’ takes every adult back to their fondest childhood memories with toy trucks, rocking horses, dinosaur figures, dolls, globes, bows, baubles and candy canes adorning the shop window.

There is even a limited edition Fibre Christmas bear for party bookings and that is where the child’s play ends.

As you would expect the bar has festive fizz, spice and beyond with its party packages.

Dave Robinson, sales & marketing manager said: “This year we really wanted to take people back to how they feel as a child waking up on Christmas morning.“For our 18th year, we really wanted to create something special, and we have succeeded with the most amazing window display - you would be forgiven for thinking it was an actual toy shop”.

There is also chance in Leeds this year to see Christmas done society style as Harewood House takes it back to the roaring, yet decadent, twenties.

‘Christmas at Harewood, Dreams of the 1920s’ starts tomorrow and is on until the new year with a dream-like decorated House, dressed by creative director Simon Costin, two different Father Christmas experiences and eight types of workshops and tours. Experience a special Christmas from 1929 and unique to Harewood’s history through the eyes of King George V’s grandsons George and Gerald, and enter a fantastical world of 1920s nostalgia.

Jane Marriott, director of the Harewood House Trust said: “We are delighted to be revealing Harewood’s Christmas vision. The decadent era of the 1920s and its more celebratory note is a natural continuation from Seeds of Hope, our exhibition which commemorates the end of the First World War. Without giving away too many secrets, visitors will step back in time to imagine Christmas through the eyes of two little boys at the end of the decade; George and Gerald Lascelles. George was the current Earl’s father and both boys were the sons of the sixth Earl and Princess Mary.”
