Autumn in Leeds? Who cares when you are in Ibiza....

Jordan Odu chilling on a pink flamingo

You know that smug guy who goes and books a cheeky trip away when the heatwave has died a death and all your holiday allowance is gone?

I hate to say it (well not really), but that’s me right now.

As I type, I’m loungin’ on an inflatable pink flamingo by the pool of my Ibizan villa (well it’s mine for now) looking cooler than LL Cool J in my brand new sunnies and cocktail in hand.

As such, please excuse the odd typo here and there, I’m multi-tasking baby.

So, summer may be well and truly over, the nights are drawing in and getting crisper, but on a plus side, event season is about to kick off.

And trust me, this year is going to be a big one, filled with some top-drawer openings, parties, one-off events and all-round seasonal goodness.

First up I’m super happy to have signed one of my dream clients, the iconic Harvey Nichols. Ever since I started Pink Gorilla I have wanted to work with these guys.We recently launched their next level bottomless brunch offer, and it went down an absolute storm with Pink Gorilla members.

My personal favourite from the menu was the poached chicken breast Waldorf salad with Serrano ham crumb. Who knew the humble salad could taste so good? Especially when you put it with 90 minute’s worth of free-flowing poured at your table prosecco and a salted caramel brownie.

We also took over the whole of the Fourth Floor from the restaurant to the Bottle Room at an event to showcase their brand-new Christmas hampers (well, that’s my mum’s Christmas pressie sorted already). These hampers are packed with premium treats galore so good that Santa may as well be redundant.

The wine frappés from the Bottle Room are also out of this world, and well worth the detour from the busy streets of Leeds.

As a regular to the Arena Quarter end of town to check out the A-list acts hitting up First Direct arena, I’ve often wished there was somewhere a little more special to enjoy a good hearty meal and some pre-gig cocktails.

Well, my prayers seem like they are about to be answered in the shape of Arnold’s Restaurant and Bar.It has opened in what used to be celebrity chef Marco Pierre White’s New York Italian restaurant.

Taking the best of British cuisine and using the best locally-sourced produce, this opulent new eatery promises to add a much-needed touch of class to the thriving entertainment hub.

The place is named after Arnold Ziff, who started Town Centre Securities and will be run by Leeds restauranteur Steve Ridealgh.

I’ll be giving you the full lowdown this time next month, so don’t forget to check back in.

As a big DiCaprio fan and a lover of The Great Gatsby, I can’t leave without mentioning Tailors Gin Bar which just unleashed its unique brand of 1920s razzle dazzle in the Grand Arcade. As well as serving up the perfect pour, they also have a dressing up box with flappers for the girls and hats for the boys, so there’s no excuse to not fix-up and look sharp in this joint. Highly recommended.

That’s all for this week guys – I’ve got another frozen daiquiri on order and it’s time to crank the volume ready to hit the clubs later. Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you soon.
