Dogs Trust in Leeds has several dogs and puppies and these are the ones that currently need rehoming (all photos from Dogs Trust Leeds):
13. Otis
Otis is a friendly lad and really enjoys being around both people and dogs. When he first arrived in kennels, his world fell apart and his anxiety manifested in humping people and grabbing at the lead when on walks. These behaviours became a very consistent coping strategy for Otis and made it difficult to do much with him, so he was taught some new strategies to help him cope with everyday life. Otis has done fantastically with his training, and he is more than ready to take the next step and find his forever home. He needs a home that he will be able to transition into easily without too much to get his head around. He is good with dogs, but it'll be easier to settle him in as an only pet. Once settled however, there's potential that another dog could be introduced in time. He is looking for an adult only home with few visitors. He is worried about heavy traffic, so can't live directly on a main road, however he does travel really well which opens up walking opportunities. Part of Otis' training plan involv
Five-year-old Pippa is a very friendly girl who greets everyone with a waggy tail. She would suit a family with older children 16 and over who are around most of the time as she isn't used to being left for long. Pippa will need a large enclosed garden with good sized fencing so she can exercise off lead and burn off some energy. She can be strong to walk out and about and may lunge out at passing dogs so a less doggy populated area would suit her best for walks. Pippa's kidneys are slightly smaller than they should be so she needs to be fed a specific renal diet. She loves her soft toys and will need to be the only pet so she can lap up all the attention for herself.
Sammy has spent all his life in the same home so coming into kennels is pretty out of the ordinary for him. Sammy is a nervous dog and takes time to make new friends. He is not a fan of children so needs an adult only home without any younger visitors or many comings and goings. Sammy loves his walks and is an active seven-year-old. He has jumped a 4ft fence in the past so a secure garden with adequate fencing is a must. He is not much of a lap dog although he likes to know his owners are close by. Over fussing can worry him so he needs a little space sometimes. Sammy will need owners who are around all the time. This could be for the long term as Sammy has a history of seperation anxiety. Sammy is happy to socialise with dogs out and about but would need to be the only pet at home. He loves the car too and is happy to be chauffeured around.
Six-year-old Stanley is a big strong boy looking for an active home. He will need to be the only pet in the home. Stanley likes to know where his owners are and will need a home where his family are at home with him during the day. Stanley is looking for a quiet home with no neighbouring dogs and quiet walks available locally. He should be fine living with children aged 15 years upwards. Stanley travels well and would enjoy finding new quiet walks to explore. He is a smart boy and is looking for a family that enjoys training. Stanley will make an incredibly fun addition to the home.
Stanley is an intelligent, interactive, and frankly stunningly beautiful chap. He is a big lad with a solid build, and he can be strong on lead at times - especially if there is a critter or two to chase! Stanley has been with us for some time and he has previously been rehomed and returned due to his behaviour. Because of this, he is looking for an owner with dog experience, time on their hands, an interest in training and behaviour, and who has a Stanley-sized-space on their sofa! He is worried by new faces so introductions need to be gradual. His new owners would need to commit to doing multiple meets to get to know Stanley before he could go home.
Wilbur is a wonderful boy with loads of potential. He is two years old and still has a lot to learn, but he's getting there. Unfortunately, he is a real worrier and doesn't like sudden noises or busy environments. He has a tendency to chase traffic and other small animals so he'll need to live in quite a rural area where he has immediate access to peaceful walks directly from his home. He prefers his own company and is not one for much fuss. He really enjoys playing with his toys and he's slowly learning how to include people in his games. Tug seems to be his current favourite! Wilbur needs a home with understanding, patient owners who are willing to continue his training. He needs an adult only environment with people who will give him the space he needs and love him just as he is. He will initially need you around all the time to settle him in. He is not keen on other dogs and has a strong natural chase instinct so cannot share his home with any other pets. He'll need a secure garden with 6ft fence.
