When the heat is on and you need a place to chill out, a ‘fire pit’ might sound like hot stuff.

In fact, The Firepit, on Fountain Street, is about to become the coolest place to spend summer.

And with giant screens showing the very best of the summer sports action – from the England-India test series to the Open at Carnoustie, the Tour de France to the British Grand Prix - the central Halifax bar is set to offer the best view of the action in town.

Within a few weeks of opening, the Firepit will introduce its mouth-watering smokehouse food menu, offering spicy Tex-Mex, succulent burgers, hot chicken wings and more.Within a few weeks of opening, the Firepit will introduce its mouth-watering smokehouse food menu, offering spicy Tex-Mex, succulent burgers, hot chicken wings and more.

The Americana-themed bar will boast several large HD TVs, including an enormous 4m x 2m screen for fans to soak up all the action of this summer’s live sporting events.

As part of the Americana theme, The Firepit will be decorated with wild west memorabilia, such as leather cowboy boots, and an iconic Airstream caravan converted into a seating booth.

“The décor will bring something new and unique to the area. There’s no other bar quite like ours,” said The Firepit’s marketing manager Isaac Mayne.

Serving up a delicious drinks menu of craft and draft beers, cocktails and an extensive whiskey list, the bar will also feature numerous games for customers to get involved in. These include darts, pool and the increasingly popular shuffleboard, with premium handmade boards imported from Norway.

“If you’re looking for somewhere to relax, watch some sport and have a drink, we’re the place for you,” he added.

The bar is looking forward to catering to sports fans’ needs throughout the summer, with the possibility of screening multiple channels at once thanks to separate Sky boxes.

So you could keep one eye on the European Sports Championships, and the other on the test cricket.

“We’re more than happy to take requests and switch channels on one of the screens if customers want to watch something that isn’t being screened why they come in,” he said.

Within a few weeks of opening, The Firepit will introduce its mouth-watering smokehouse food menu, offering spicy Tex-Mex, succulent burgers, hot chicken wings and more.

Later in the year, the venue will expand to include a refurbished upper floor, which will be converted into a Potting Shed bar and restaurant.
