Days out in Yorkshire: Yorkshire’s winter wonderland

Have your say

Christmas is fast approaching and now is the perfect time to get into the festive spirit by walking right into Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland.

Celebrating its 10th birthday this year, this award-winning visitor attraction has a whole host of festive activities that will have you decking the halls and searching for mistletoe in no time.

This magical attraction plays host to the North of England’s largest outdoor ice rink, The Ice Factor, with 900m2 of 100 per cent real ice.

At Christmas time it is transformed into a scenic village square where you will find wooden cabins, an illuminated forest and a 30ft Christmas tree that forms the heart of the enchanting setting.

Papa Kitchen is on hand to take care of your nourishment needs within their heated, alpine-themed chalet. Lose yourself amongst the rustic wooden tables and cosy furs as you sample the delicious homemade gingerbread men and ‎Glühwein.

It may be cosy in there but don’t miss out on the funfair that boasts an authentic 1930s speedway, dodgems and a traditional carousel.

No visit to Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland would be complete without a trip to Santa’s Grotto where he will be waiting to give each child a special gift. Speaking of which, York Designer Outlet has more than 120 stores inside if you need to grab a few final pressies.

Booking for both The Ice Factor and Santa’s Grotto is strongly recommended. Ho Ho have a great time!
