Days out in Yorkshire: Stockeld Park, Leeds

Have your say

The clocks have gone back, the winter coats are out so it must be time for a trip to the magical Christmas Adventure at Stockeld Park.

Prepare for beautifully lit adventures around the park’s 1.2km of Enchanted Forest which can’t fail to get you into the warm winter spirit.

The illuminated lake looks stunning, but it’s the sculptures and installations in the woodlands that really catch your breath, blending festivity with fantasy featuring lions, reindeer and wizards to name a few.

You can either walk it or hop on a pair of Nordic skis.

A real ice rink sits just next to the Woodland Café and transports you into those famous images we have all seen on TV of winter skaters in New York – but without the transatlantic flight!

A good tip if you fancy the skating is to wear layers and a pair of gloves and pull on a pair of thick socks so you can keep skating even if Jack Frost shows up.

Speaking of which, the attraction is aiming to smash a world record on Saturday November 9 and everyone is welcome to join in – and it’s for charity.

They’re attempting to break the record for the largest gathering of Santa elves in the world, so what better reason do you need to visit and help make history?

Check out the website to see how you can get elf-y and help support Martin House Hospice.

They also sell Christmas trees too, so save space!
