Days out in Yorkshire: Bempton Cliffs

Have your say

For a real wild adventure head on down to Bempton Cliffs and join the Puffin party - the best place in England to see, hear and smell seabirds!

The cliffs have a star-studded line up of our feathered friends, so if you don’t know your pigeon from your puffin, now is the time to learn.

Bempton Cliffs’ hotly anticipated new Seabird Centre opened over Easter, following a whopping £1.3m investment. There’s also guided walks and family events with RSPB experts at hand to help with any of your wildlife queries.

It’s not all about the puffins though, there’s a huge selection of winged wildlife at Bempton Cliffs.

Approximately 250,000 flock to the cliffs between Bempton and Flamborough to find a mate and raise their young. Romantic, eh?

Bempton is bird watching bliss and from April to August as you can see the cliffs come alive with nest-building adults or young chicks trying to find their feet – and wings!

You can get close to the action from six viewing platforms too and inside the seabird centre there’s an exciting exhibition area, large TV screens screening live images from the cliffs along with a shop, selling a selection of binoculars, scopes and bird feed.

Light snacks are available and can be enjoyed in the picnic area. Just keep your eyes on your dinner, you don’t want a seagull swiping your sarnie.
