If you fancy taking a splash without spending holiday amounts of cash then a quick trip down the M1 to Barnsley’s Metrodome has got you covered.
Set sail for the south and you’ll discover treasure troves of fun at the venue’s Calypso Cove waterpark.
Home to a bounty of slides and flumes that scream adventure island fun, you can take on Eruption – a volcano-themed flume – or perhaps slide through Terror Torrent – a dark and fast slide.
Toddlers are catered for too, the shallow depths of Coconut Creek are a great place for beginners to build their confidence in the water, without missing out on the fun.
If the waves of Calypso Cove aren’t up your alley, the complex is also home to Still Waters, a 25m swimming pool that offers lane swimming and holds swimming lessons regularly.
Plunge off the plank into the centre’s diving pool if you’re feeling up to it.
If not, you can tempt yourself to book a diving lesson instead and learn how to do it the professional way
Poolside restaurant, The Hideout, is open on weekends or seven days a week during school holidays, a perfect place to visit after working up an appetite on the waters.
But, it’s not all about making a splash. There’s also the Metrodome Arena, an eight lane bowling alley and plenty of places to eat.
It’s location makes it easy to get to via the M1, and a five minute walk from Barnsley Interchange, makes it the ideal place for a family holiday out.
