More than 10,000 people voted Cannon Hall Farm Yorkshire’s favourite family attraction in an online poll this month.

If it’s animals you’re looking for, you certainly won’t be disappointed. Make sure to grab some feed at the entrance so you can watch them enjoy some tasty treats.

Step into the farm and you’ll immediately be greeted by excitable and curious meercats and their tiny offspring. Then follow the path around the farm to see donkeys, horses, llamas, cows and goats (true to form, you’ll see some cheeky kids climbing over the other animals).

As the farm averages two or three litters of piglets every week you’re sure to see some tiny babies with their mother pigs too.

One of the greatest attributes to Cannon Hall Farm is the space – you won’t find yourself squeezed up against other visitors or on your tiptoes peering over the top of someone to see – the farm’s barns are spacious so you have plenty of room to see the adorable animals. And what’s more, the animals have space as well.

Not only are their enclosures spacious but there is plenty of opportunity to see them out and enjoying themselves – from the sheep in neighbouring fields to the quirky sheep racing arena which – as the name suggests – hosts a sort-of Royal Baa-scot.

Staff even let some of the animals out so you can get up-close and personal with a rabbit, a guinea pig or even one of the reptile house residents.

Cannon Hall Farm is easy to get to - just a quick trip down the M1 to Barnsley and no need to worry about navigating winding country roads as the farm is well sign posted from the motorway and there’s ample parking and easy access.

Let you little ones burn off some energy at the Hungry Llama indoor play area while you relax with a cup of tea and a slice of cake.

And an absolute must before you leave is the farm shop. It’s packed with produce and famous for its notoriously good home produced beef, pork and lamb. The shop shelves are packed with kitchen gadgets, mugs and home décor - it’s worth a trip by itself.

With loads of festive activities including a fantastic pumpkin festival with expert carvers on hand to help, now’s the perfect time to visit.
