Beach bodies and all-nighters at the Botanist - how Leeds' main man rolled this week

The ultimate party must have this year - a flower wall.

Love Island bod? I’m working on it!

With the entire country gripped with World Cup fever, I decided to dust off my sweatpants and head back to Snap Fitness in a last-ditch attempt to get ripped for the Love International Festival.

Whether it turns out to be too little too late remains to be seen, but I’ll be getting my groove on in the hot Croatian sun this weekend, Love Island bod or not.

As someone who was admittedly terrible at footy during school (let’s just say I was never the first picked for the team), I’ve decided to leave the beautiful game to Harry Kane and the boys, but… would you believe I’m actually a lot sportier than you might think.

You might laugh, but listen up –I was top of the league in my Boston Spa school bowling team, and regularly came home with some fine silverware (OK, so maybe it was plastic) for my mum’s mantelpiece. Jokes aside, I’m looking forward to unleashing my inner bowler once more and smashing it out the park at Roxy Lanes fourth birthday party next month.

Speaking of anniversaries, we partied into the small hours along with over 200 guests for The Botanist’s fifth birthday bash, where they unveiled their slick new terrace. It’s always been one of my fave Leeds bars and the drink of the night was most definitely gin. The party really got us warmed up for a busy July and I especially loved the flower wall which has become the must have party decoration of the year.

I’m super excited for Bar Soba to open up on Greek Street next month, as it’s close to my office and serves up some damn fine Asian street food and fusion cocktails. The new venue takes over from where Bem Brasil left off, and we’ve had a sneak peek at the plans – you’re all in for a real treat.

Elsewhere in the city, Be At One on Boar Lane is doubling in size, and Manahatta is set to open a third Leeds venue in Headingley, bringing their NYC cocktail bar swag to the old Arc site. And, if that’s not enough excitement for you, The Box are opening their second sports bar in the building formerly occupied by 53 Degrees North. Needless to say, it’s going to be a busy summer, and Leeds is just getting better and better every year.

On Independence Day, I’ll be stepping back in time at First Direct Arena, as the legendary Earth, Wind & Fire will be bringing their unique brand of disco funk to Leeds. They are such an underrated band in my opinion, and people forget how many tunes they’ve dropped. September and Let’s Groove are pure class and remind me of the stuff my olds used to whilst I was growing up.

With such a busy social calendar ahead of me, and not to mention the awesome heatwave, I’ve been diving into the summer sales at Zara, Paul Smith, Sandro and Topman, who’ve been clearing out to make way for their autumn/winter clobber (already?!). As you would expect, my updated wardrobe features fruity shirts galore, but I’ve also been embracing stripes too, cos that’s how I roll right now.

Jordan and his main man Maveer Singh-Pangu.

Finally I’d like to give a shout out to my main man Maveer Singh-Pangu for being with Pink Gorilla a year and helping us throw some of the best parties in Leeds.

That’s it from me for now – I’m off to get myself packed and sent off to Croatia for some serious party party. Enjoy the weather and I’ll see you at a party soon.
