Leeds weekend weather forecast: Dull skies and heavy rain as city's social life resumes indoors

After a week of heavy rain, the bad weather is set to continue as Leeds braces for another wet weekend.

The weekend will begin with heavy rain throughout the day and evening on Friday, which is forecasted to change to overcast by night time.

There will be highs of 12C and sunset will be at 9.11pm.

From Saturday morning, Leeds can expect some slightly drier, yet still dull, weather with a day of mixed dark and lighter cloud throughout.

At around 6pm, the sun might start peeping through the clouds offering a brighter end to the day before the sun sets at 9.12pm.

Saturday will see temperatures reach highs of 12C.

The rain on Sunday is forecast to begin at around 4pm and last right through until the early hours of Monday morning.

It will get heavier as the evening progresses with some black cloud covering the city throughout.

Though slightly warmer with highs of 13C, Sunday's weather will give a dull end to the weekend with sunset at 9.14pm.

Leeds residents will be thankful for their first weekend of being allowed to socialise or meet indoors - to avoid the battering weather.

The eased restrictions mean that the city's museums, cinemas and bowling alleys are open, as well as hospitality resuming indoor service.

Friday: A cloudy day across the region with outbreaks of rain, these heavy at times on the hills. Feeling increasingly chilly into the evening as winds strengthen from the northeast. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Friday night: Staying cloudy and increasingly windy overnight with further rain at times, but this increasingly confined to eastern parts by Saturday morning. Misty across the hills. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Saturday: Another rather cloudy day with a few mainly light showers, but some brighter intervals developing in the afternoon. Windy in coastal areas during the morning. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday: Showers developing on Sunday, with more persistent and heavier rain later. Bright or sunny intervals and occasional showers on Monday, and a few showers on Tuesday. Feeling cool throughout.
