Leeds Bank Holiday weekend weather forecast: Sunshine to blast city in mini heatwave

It's what we've all been waiting for! Leeds is set for some much-needed sunshine and heat this weekend.

The weekend will begin with a dry and cloudy day on Friday with highs of 18C.

As the sun sets at 9.21pm, the overcast sky will continue into Saturday morning.

From around 3pm on Saturday, the sun will begin to peep through the clouds and will do so right through into the evening.

There will be highs of 20C across Leeds and the sun will set at the later time of 9.22pm.

Sunday really is a sun-day this weekend with it set to shine throughout the day.

With highs of 20C, there won't be a cloud in sight as the afternoon gets underway according to the Met Office forecast.

The sun will set at 9.24pm on Sunday - giving us those extra daylight hours to enjoy the good weather in.

The same can be said for Bank Holiday Monday - as the forecast is for sun all day again, with sunset at 9.25pm.

This time with highs of 21C, Monday is set to kick off a week of warmth as the mini heatwave continues into Tuesday and beyond.

The Met Office forecast in full:

Friday: A dry but rather cloudy start, especially toward the west. Becoming brighter in the afternoon, with some sunny spells and perhaps the odd shower, mainly over the Pennines. Feeling warm, with light winds. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Friday night: Dry with variable amounts of cloud but some clear spells at times, particularly in the east. Becoming chilly by dawn, with a chance of mist or shallow fog in places. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Saturday: Rather cloudy at first but some sunshine in the east, becoming predominant later. The odd afternoon shower, mainly over the Pennines. Warm. Cloudy near the coast during the evening. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday: Dry and warm through this period but cooler along the coast, with areas of low cloud and fog moving inland overnight before receding towards the sea during the mornings.
