Photo memories of Leeds trams during the 1950s

These photos showcase and celebrate a golden age of travel around Leeds.

They provide a fascinating insight of life on the trams in Leeds during the 1950s. It was a decade in which the city bought 90 Feltham second-hand trams, dating from 1931, from London Transport. The last tram trundled down the tracks in the city in November 1959. These photos are published courtesy of the National Tramway Museum, which is located at Crich in Derbyshire and boasts more than 60 trams built between 1873 and 1982.
