Over the last decade, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund (CHSF) has donated £525,000 to The Sick Children’s Trust which runs Eckersley House in Leeds.

Eckersley House gives families a place to stay while their child receives vital and life-saving treatment at Leeds Children’s Hospital.

Eckersley House can support up to 23 families a night, which families don’t need to travel long distances regularly to spend time with a poorly child.

Sharon Milner, Chief Executive at CHSF, said: “We are thrilled to have been able to support Eckersley House, run by The Sick Children’s Trust, with over half a million pounds since 2010.

“In supporting accommodation near the hospital, we are directly helping our cardiac families - and we know it is highly valued by parents going through incredibly tough times."

Chief Executive at The Sick Children’s Trust, Jane Featherstone, said: “Hospital can be a scary place for anyone, but especially for a child. The donations we have received over the last decade has meant that over 1,000 children on the heart unit have not had to face hospital alone.

“That child knows that when they wake up in the morning, their family will be there which gives them much-needed comfort at an uncertain time.

“To be offered a warm and comfortable place to stay when your child is in hospital far away from home is a huge relief.

“With support from the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, together we have been able to give families one less thing to worry about and would like to say a huge thank you to the charity and all of its supporters.”
