Lewis Speight has organised the night in memory of Sara Djoudi, who died from a brain tumour in February.

Sara, 20, was a friend of Lewis’s and he is to present and sing in the show along with Tom Bleasby, who featured in last year’s X Factor.

All proceeds will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust, which runs two units in Leeds.

Lewis said: “The work they do here is incredible. They help young adults and teenagers who are battling cancer within Leeds to have an easier journey.

“The support they offer these young people is outstanding, this is so they don’t feel like they are alone in their journey.

“I would like to do this event in memory of my friend as she was a bright, smart and amazing young woman who deserves recognition.”

Sara, of Potternewton, was first diagnosed with the tumour when she was 14, and was successfully treated at Leeds General Infirmary and in the USA.

However the tumour returned last year, when was Sara studying law at Newcastle University.

Doctors told her there was nothing further they could do, prompting a fundraising campaign which collected £10,000 to support her and her family through her final weeks.

The show in her memory takes place at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Leeds city centre on July 2 and as well as performances by Lewis and Tom, there will be fundraising raffles and games.

Lewis added: “Sara died from a brain tumour and currently they kill more people under 40 than any other cancer.”

Tickets for the event cost £10 and can be bought by emailing [email protected].
